My ethos regarding architectural design is creating spaces that improve the value of the existing for people, the environment, and economy of what was, for now and the future, in other words, sustainable design, which is hugely important to me as a baseline for architectural design. My personal approach to adding value in these ways is through integrating nature, both plant life, and processes or phenomena, and innovative tectonic approaches. To add value, the value of the existing must be understood deeply. I am especially drawn to a context which involves existing built form, to conserve or reuse, due to the analysis of existing value requiring extra scrutiny and it’s inherently more sustainable approach. Particularly enjoying designing through making, models are a large part of my portfolio. I also have a small business, Nature Glow by Rosewhich merges my interests of sustainability, nature, and craft whilst creating objects that have the ability to transform the ambience of a space.
